3 Benefits of Content Repurposing

What is content repurposing?

Content Repurposing is when you take elements of a pre-existing piece of content and share the information using a different medium and/or platform. A common example is when Podcast hosts take the audio/visuals of their show and transcribe them, pulling key points into the podcast notes and potentially an accompanying blog. It doesn’t need to end there though! This content (audio, visual, & written) can be repurposed further in other elements of their content marketing plan so as to expand their reach without needing to reinvent the wheel for each piece of content they put out into the world.

Note: The best content to repurpose is Evergreen (content that remains relevant long after it is published. Its value doesn’t change much, if at all, over time) and comes from a relatively large resource library so as to prevent unnecessary repetition.

3 Benefits of content repurposing:

  1. Lessen the time spent creating content

You don’t have to keep reinventing the wheel!

By turning your brilliant ideas into fresher versions of themselves, you stay consistently visible, save time, and preserve valuable mental space to attend to other, more pressing, parts of your business.

  2. Fill the gaps in your content strategy

It has never been more important to consistently share content in the online world.

Digital marketing has skyrocketed as more eyes than ever are turning to the internet for entertainment and consumption of information. Social media, email marketing, graphics, podcasts, blogs, and more! It can be hard to come up with fresh information to share that will resonate with your ideal clients, so why not take parts of existing content and put it to good use.

  3. Reach a larger audience

When more people see and are able to engage with your content, your lead potential raises and so too does your bottom line sales.

Let’s say you have a pretty elaborate but extremely valuable article in your resource library. How many people do you think are going to take the time to read that? Now, let’s say you invest in having that article simplified and turned into an infographic. The reach of that piece of content -by contrast- would be exponential. This is only one way, of many, that you can optimize your reach by appealing to the variety of learning and consumer styles in your audience.

Repurposing your content will make content planning, creating, and sharing not just easier but more efficient and effective as well. If this seems like a challenge then you’ve probably already overcomplicated your strategy and may need to explore the option of doing a content audit to simplify your process and content marketing strategy.
